CWX keyer

RimuSDR includes an integrated CWX keyer. It sends CW text directly from the application, with no external keyer or hardware interface.

Set the slice to a CW mode first

The slice must be in CW or CW-U mode before you use CWX. Sending CW while the slice is in a phone or digital mode does not produce the expected output.

Sending text

1. Type the CW text into the CWX text field.
2. Press Enter, or click Send.

The text is queued and sent to the radio as CW at the current keyer speed.

Keyer speed

The keyer speed in words per minute is shown, and can be adjusted while text is queued. A change takes effect at the next character boundary, so the current character is always completed at the speed it started at.

Memory slots

The CWX keyer provides memory slots for text you send often, such as a CQ call, a signal report, or a contest exchange. Assign text to a slot, then recall it with one click during an operating session.

Aborting a send

Click Stop to clear the CWX transmit queue immediately and drop the radio out of transmit. Use it any time you need to interrupt a send in progress.

How CW is generated

All CW timing is processed by the FlexRadio hardware, not in software. This produces clean sidetone and accurate timing at any speed.

The sidetone comes from the radio's audio output. Adjust its level and pitch with the radio's profile or front-panel controls.
