Installing on Windows¶

RimuSDR is a fully supported Windows client with all core radio features available.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 are supported, 64-bit only.

RimuDAX and RimuCAT are Linux-only

There is no Windows build of either component, so DAX audio routing and CAT control are not available on Windows. Digital-mode and logging software that depends on them needs a Linux host. See Package formats.

Download the installer¶

Open the Downloads page.
Download the Windows installer from the Windows (amd64) section.

The file is named for its version, for example RimuSDR-v1.1.13-Windows-x64-Setup.exe. There is no 32-bit or ARM build.
Check the download against its SHA-256 checksum.

The Downloads page shows a checksum for each file. Compare it against the file you received:

The two values must match. If they do not, download the file again.

Run the installer¶

Double-click RimuSDR-v<version>-Windows-x64-Setup.exe.
Follow the prompts.
Start RimuSDR from the Start menu.

After installation¶

Next, activate your license. See the Activation Guide.

Activation works the same way as on Linux, and your license covers installations on either platform. See Activating your license for the 10-installation limit and for transferring a license between machines.

What is different on Windows¶

Audio: RimuSDR uses the standard Windows audio devices. There is no DAX audio path, because RimuDAX is Linux-only.
CAT control: Not available. RimuCAT is Linux-only, so the CAT, Hamlib, PTT, Winkeyer, OTRSP, N1MM+ spot, passthrough, and logbook ports are Linux features.
MIDI controllers: Supported. See MIDI controllers.
Focus Helper: Returns focus to your logging application after RimuSDR takes it, which matters with loggers such as WriteLog. This is a Windows-only feature.

Uninstalling¶

Remove RimuSDR through Settings › Apps › Installed apps, the same way as any other Windows application.
